Trauma Informed & CPT
We are all in the process of change, even though sometimes it feels like we're very much stuck.
Trauma and past negative/unwanted experiences can make it hard to become unstuck. Whether or not you want to focus on trauma therapy, I work to provide an environment that is sensitive to how your past may be negatively impacting your present, especially to avoid retraumatizing you.
When treating trauma, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

Mindfulness based
According to Jon Kabat-Zinn, the foundation of mindfulness includes learning to be present, attending, and non-judgmental. Mindfulness does not require meditation.
The more we're able to accurately focus on what is going on now, the better we'll be able to address it.
Mindfulness is a practice that can be learned and used outside of spirituality and religion. There is a great deal of evidence to support mindfulness as an effective means to improve mood, anxiety, and executive functioning issues (like with ADHD).

Individualized
I provide neurodivergent-affirming and person-centered therapy with an emphasis on psychoeducation and skill-building. While my early training was in CBT and DBT, I am an ACT therapist.
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) combines strength- and evidence-based practices from many other therapy approaches with your values to help you reach your goals. So, I work to use scientifically supported techniques along with an understanding of your spirituality, religion, and philosophy to help you live the life you want to live.
For more information about issues/concerns I treat and the therapies I use, please see my “About Me” page.
