“Growth occurs when individuals confront problems, struggle to master them, and through that struggle develop new aspects of their skills, capacities, views about life.”

    Trauma Informed & CPT

We are all in the process of change, even though sometimes it feels like we're very much stuck.

Trauma and past negative/unwanted experiences can make it hard to become unstuck. Whether or not you want to focus on trauma therapy, I work to provide an environment that is sensitive to how your past may be negatively impacting your present, especially to avoid retraumatizing you.

When treating trauma, I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

    Mindfulness based

According to Jon Kabat-Zinn, the foundation of mindfulness includes learning to be present, attending, and non-judgmental. Mindfulness does not require meditation.

The more we're able to accurately focus on what is going on now, the better we'll be able to address it.

Mindfulness is a practice that can be learned and used outside of spirituality and religion. There is a great deal of evidence to support mindfulness as an effective means to improve mood, anxiety, and executive functioning issues (like with ADHD).

    Integrative

I provide neurodivergent-affirming, individualized, person-centered therapy with an emphasis on psychoeducation and skill-building.

My approach is secular and informed by science, and I use strength- and evidence-based practices. That said, I also understand and support the roles that spirituality, religion, and philosophy play in well-being.
